Drake finally dropped his highly anticipated project More Life this past weekend and it’s pretty much a 22 track compilation of hits! With dancehall, R&B, Afro Beat and grime influences flowing all throughout the album, I don’t think there’s even one song I can’t vibe to.
Of course it was expected or maybe just even hoped for by his fans that Drizzy would throw some jabs at Tory Lanez and Meek Mill on this album and he definitely did it in the most subtle of ways.
*sips tea* On “Do Not Disturb” he takes a shot at Tory rapping “You overnight celebrity you one day star, I swear I told you I’m in this bitch for eternity.” Lanez’s legal name is Daystar Peterson. *sips more tea*
Straight out the gate on the intro “Free Smoke” it sounds like Drake comes for Meek spitting “How you let the kid fighting ghostwritin’ rumors turn you into a ghost? Oh you niggas got jokes.” If you didn’t already know, Mills started those ghostwriting rumors but whether or not Drake does use a ghostwriter his delivery is so on point that it’s not even necessary for me to know if he wrote the lyrics or not. Drake is Drake punto y se acabo.
As for my highlight tracks off the album? Passionfruit, Teenage Fever, Lose You,Glow ft. Kanye West, Ice Melts ft. Young Thug…actually I could keep going because they’re all dope in their own ways. I especially like the griminess Drake infused on this album on songs such as “KMT” and “No Long Talk” both featuring English rapper Giggs.
The 6 God is the king of getting both men and women in their feelings. His relatability game is just too strong.
If you haven’t already then do yourself a favor and take a listen to More Life on Apple Music now!
