D.C. native and still one of the most underrated artists of our generation (in my opinion) Wale, released his fifth studio album SHINE, a week earlier than anticipated and I’m here for it!
Keeping it 100, I don’t think as a complete body of work SHINE works for me but Wale definitely has some standout singles on here that will be rotating throughout my playlists heavy.
SHINE is kind of reminiscent of Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book – both artists praise their gratitude to the most high and glow over their overwhelming love for their daughters, which to me is better than any of the gibberish that’s so hyped up now a days yet so catchy.
With that being said my favorite tracks from the album are “Thank God,” “My Love” ft. Major Lazer, WizKid and Dua Lipa – which is sure to be a go to for the summer time, “Fashion Week” ft. G-Eazy, “My PYT” and my guilty pleasure “Colombia Heights (Te Llamo)” ft. J.Balvin – that song has actually gotten some shade but I dig it, it may have a little something to do with me being Puerto Rican and Wale shouting out us Boricuas but hey I like what I like! LOL
Take a listen to SHINE on Apple Music now and let me know which tracks are making it on to your playlist!
Still. Here. Ignoring. Negative.Energy
