It’s been about a week since New Jersey born, Miami based producer, Ronny J released his debut album OMGRONNY and I can’t even begin to express how proud I am of this kid!
I first met Ronny J back in 2011-12 when he was studying at the Art Institute of Miami and he always expressed his love of music and was always making beats on his laptop and creating with his friends. Whenever him and fellow producer/artist Papi Yerr linked up it was always a movie and these two have grown so much and have found success throughout the years and the fact that they’ve done it together really inspires me and makes me genuinely happy for them.
Ronny J is mainly known as a producer but since recently signing a deal with Atlantic Records, he decided he’d release some of his own records on this debut album which is smart because it shows how diverse of an artist he really is.
OMGRONNY features artists such as Denzel Curry, Smokepurpp, Ski Mask, XXXTENTACION among others. This 11 track offering is completely produced by Ronny and is an overall good representation of his signature distorted, GO HARD, GET CRAZY, banger sounds. The Denzel Curry assisted “Houston” is absolutely FILTHY – I’ve never even used that word before to describe a song but honestly that’s the first word that came to mind and if you’re not making a stank face while listening to it then you need to get your ears checked out ASAP. One of the songs Ronny lays down his own vocals is “824” and it’s by far one of my favorites – he slows things down with this one and gets in his feelings a little bit which I can appreciate.
The lead single off this project “Banded Up” ft. XXXTENTACION brings me back to those Miami days when I got to witness Ronny and Papi Yerr create together. “Banded Up” is actually Papi Yerr’s debut as a songwriter and I swear I can hear his touch in it – the chemistry between these two is crazy and I’m low key waiting on them to make a joint project! Yerr will also be releasing his debut album soon which will feature Tory Lanez on it.
Can we also please take a moment to appreciate the cover art for OMGRONNY – he really is the GOAT and you can’t tell him nothin’! lol
Take a listen to Ronny J’s album OMGRONNY now and let me know your thoughts on it!
