We’re about two weeks in to 2019 and The Weeknd along with French producer, Gesaffelstein are already setting the bar high in the music world with the release of their latest collab “ Lost In The Fire.”
As soon as the track came out the buzz was immediately about The Weeknd’s apparent shade towards Drake singing “..and I just want a baby with the right one cause I would never be the one to hide one.” In all honesty, yea the inspo for that line probably did come from Drake’s situation but my thoughts on it is this – why do people look to hype up the negative more than appreciate the artistry??It’s something I will never understand. Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd dropped an (in my opinion) amazing R&B/electronic infused single along with a minimalistic yet visually stimulating video and all people can comment on is that lyric.
In a time where all we’re getting from mainstream artists are songs that are yes, catchy but don’t make any sense accompanied by over the top and over done videos, I applaud the Weeknd for keepin’ it raw. He continues to keep it dark & sensual for us and I will forever be here for it.
