Finally the monster of a rapper, Álvaro Díaz, released his latest EP today, Ilumilatin Vol. 1, for his fans to hear and it’s ridiculous how good it is! Irrelevant isn’t even the word right now for Díaz’s “competition,” he’s not giving them a single chance to top him and I don’t see it happening anytime soon if ever.
Now available on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud, Ilumilatin Vol. 1, is a darker sound for Álvaro. For those who have already listened, you may have noticed the artist used a lot of Auto-Tune on these tracks but last night during a Periscope session for his fans, he explained that his upcoming album, Díaz Buenos Díaz Malos, doesn’t have any auto-tuning so he wanted to do something completely different for the EP. I think that was a good call from the rapper because it definitely complimented the grimey energy he was trying to channel on these tracks.
From witty punch lines to catchy hooks and dope beats, it’s hard for me to pick a stand out song. I wasn’t ready for all this fire!

Just because I’m a girl you might think “Elvira Hancock” is my favorite, which it definitely is in my top favorites from Álvaro but I can’t lie, I’m really feelin’ “Frente Al Espejo.”
In “Monstar” Díaz raps “El día que no joseo es un día perdió” and after listening to all of these songs about 100 times now there’s no doubt him and his team are on their grind 24/7. Props definitely have to be given to the producer of all 5 tracks, Young Martino, Caleb Calloway with the assist on “Donde Están Mis $$$ ?”, to the Lara brothers for the mixing/masterization of the EP,to César Berrios, Wigberto Rodriguez and Janjo for the visuals and art of Ilumilatin Vol. 1 and to Álvaro’s manager, Angelo Torres, who has done an amazing job at promoting his artist on all major platforms and giving not only the locals of Puerto Rico a chance to know who Álvaro Díaz is but people all around the world- “de Hato Rey a Aguascalientes! “
